Shoebox Floating..

Weekend 'homework' for our first-grader this weekend was to build a Shoebox float for the First Grade's annual Cinco De Mayo parade around school. (Show of hands: who thought Cinco De Mayo had been reduced to a cerveza marketing ploy?)

So what better time for a little payback?
All I have to say, Ms. Price, with your UT-themed Christmas ornaments and your Rocky Top-singing Spring Musical.. take that!

Over the weekend, Aidan had to complete (with a little help from Mom and her hot glue gun) a school project on Thomas Jefferson.. read a book, write 5 sentences, and make a hand puppet..

Parting gifts

Before Jimmy and Judy headed home this morning, Bryce colored a picture for Jimmy.
Bryce's favorite color these days is yellow, so the picture of the (you guessed it) firefighter doesn't have as much red in it as it probably should, but I don't think Jimmy minded..

Artwork Update

I need to snap some pics of a few of Aidan's and Bryce's recent artwork masterpieces, but here's one I have that I haven't posted yet-- Aidan's portrait of Humpty Dumpty:

Humpty Dumpty Sat on a Wall..

Last week, Aidan's class all went to school dressed as characters from their favorite nursery rhymes. Aidan picked Humpty Dumpty as his favorite... and thanks to some heroic efforts by his Mom, he went to class looking like a pretty darn good accident-prone egg. :)

Aidan Art Update

A quick shot of one of Aidan's recent art projects at school.
He wasn't happy with the first boat he drew, so he kept drawing boat after boat until.. well, he's go his own armada going at this point..
