Saturday mornings are the best...

Two boys, two flashlights and a pair of Boom Whackers (educational music toys) fashioned into DIY lightsabers... let the battles begin...

Scenes from Soccer...

Soccer season for the boys is winding down. Soccer has been one of our dominant activities this Spring. Thursday practices and Saturday games for each of our boys-- so this is what being overscheduled feels like. Well, okay it's not been that bad.. in fact, we've had so much rain this Spring that it's been tough to get a game and a practice in in the same week.
Poor Aidan's team-- which I've been helping to coach a little bit-- has missed so many practices this season, we've lost count.

So here are some images from games the boys each had yesterday.. in the sunshine, no less!

Noshville and the Park..

Good day today. We had breakfast with some friends (and Flat Jacob) at Noshville, and then went to let the kids play at the park...

I mean, it's not every day you get to pose with a pickle, and then go spin around on a tire swing until you nearly upchuck your bacon and eggs!

Firefighter Bryce (and other notes from Jimmy and Judy's visit)

With Jimmy's visit this weekend, Bryce has decided he wants to be a firefighter when he grows up!

We were all so glad to get a chance to visit with Jimmy and Judy for a few days and the boys had a ball playing with their new-found playmates!
Jimmy and Bryce worked a puzzle together...
Brave (and generous) souls that they are, Jimmy and Judy took the boys to the toy store to pick out their own birthday gifts...
Aidan plays with his new weed-eater:
Jimmy and I work to unpackage a couple of new Tonka trucks. Aidan picked out a Garbage truck with a working forklift and Bryce picked out (big surprise) a firetruck with a working ladder:
With Jimmy's counsel, Fire Chief Bryce deploys firemen to fight this highrise blaze!

Aidan takes a turn with the ladder truck:

Superfriends

The neighborhood is safe, thanks to these Superfriends!
(with Aidan's friend, Steven, playing the role of Spiderman, and Bryce in his make-shift Batman-- NOT to be confused with Zorro-- outfit)

Let's fly a kite!

Earlier this week, on a good and windy day, we took Aidan and Bryce to a nearby park to do some kite-flying... and, amazingly, no one got tangled in the strings!

Soccer Sunday

Sleepydad became SoccerDad for the first time earlier today (Happy Daylight Savings Time, by the way!) as we took Aidan to his first soccer practice. He's playing in a kind of 8 week spring soccer camp hosted at a nearby high school... and to say that he jumped straight into it with both feet would be a terrible understatement!

A number of players from the high school boys and girls teams are participating in the league, helping to coach and mentor the little kids and it looks like Aidan is going to have a great time!
They'll have practice on Thursday evenings and more practice and loose scrimmages like today for an hour on Sunday afternoons.

So it's SoccerDad Sundays from now through the month of April. Stay tuned.
